As the summer of 1988 winds down, three friends on the verge of adulthood attend an out-of-control party in celebration of their last night of unbridled youth. Starring Topher Grace, Anna Faris, Dan Fogler and Teresa Palmer, Take Me Home Tonight is a raunchy, romantic and ultimately touching blast from the past set to an awesome soundtrack of timeless rock and hip-hop hits. Recent MIT grad Matt Franklin should be working for a Fortune 500 company and starting his upward climb to full-fledged yuppie-hood. Instead, the directionless 23-year-old confounds family and friends by taking a part-time job behind the counter of a video store at the Sherman Oaks Galleria. But Matt's silent protest against maturity comes to a screeching halt once his unrequited high school crush, Tori Frederking , walks into the store.
Take Me Home Tonight is set in the late 1980s, for reasons that seem to have less to do with nostalgia for that era than with nostalgia for its movies. Certainly the 1980s were not the last time young people had simple desires like getting the phone number of the girl or boy of their dreams, deciding what to do with their lives and coping with their parental challenges. [on filming Hacksaw Ridge - Die Entscheidung and Berlin Syndrom at the same time] They are different characters. I play a woman, taken captive dealing with Stockholm syndrome in Cate Shortlands movie. It's a dark sexual role and then I go into this very innocent character, who is just falling in love with her man in "Hacksaw". Younger fans might be thrown off by a more accidental piece of retro irony, tucked in amongst all the intended retro irony.
Nostalgia-drenched setting can't save this cliched dud
Matt may have had the brain for MIT, but like so many Hughes characters his background is blue collar; his father is an LAPD officer. In a subplot, his twin sister Wendy has just received a letter she is afraid to open but which Matt is sure is her acceptance to graduate school. Grace has a strange habit of addressing the forehead of the person he’s talking to, but he makes Matt the kind of likable guy we believe is truly supportive and protective of his sister.
There is something impressive about Palmer always finding work even though she looks so much like a very blond Kristen Stewart. Topher Grace stars as recent MIT grad Matt Franklin, a man undecided as to career path and temporarily employed at a mall video store, a subject of endless consternation for his parents. Taking place over one long night, the film follows good-guy Matt, his sister Wendy , and his foul-mouthed BFF Barry as they attend two parties, snort a not inconsiderable amount of blow, and pursue romantic fulfillment. In Matt’s case, this path to happiness means wooing his high school crush, Tori Frederking by pretending to be in the same line of work as her—Investment banking, the go-to job in the go-go ’80s—before winning her over with his charms.

Was considered for the part of "O" in Savages that was eventually played by Blake Lively. Married her boyfriend of 15 months Mark Webber in Mexico, following a 4-month-long engagement. Was considered for roles in two superhero films; Emma Stone's role as Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man , and Emily VanCamp's part as Kate in The Return of the First Avenger . Her role in Der Fluch - The Grudge 2 was originally written for Vanessa Lengies, who turned it down to work on another movie.

From stealing a car to a marriage proposal to an indescribable, no-holds-barred dance-off, these friends share experiences that will change the course of their lives on one unforgettable night in the Go-Go '80s. Christian Bale mistook her for a real-life stripper on the set of Knight of Cups . During filming director Terrence Malick would spontaneously pair Bale with all kinds of people, from actual actors to random people on the street.
Take Me Home Tonight: ’80s Nostalgia, with Cocaine
Check out the trailer in high definition at Apple Trailers. Topher Grace plays a college grad who works at Suncoast Video (ah ha!) and doesn't quite know what to do with his life. You've got to see the trailer for "Take Me Home Tonight." Even if you weren't even born yet in 1988, there is so much to cherish.
People that don't enjoy slightly grown up teen comedies may not enjoy this film but I for one had a blast. In the 1984 yearbook, there are several anachronisms. There's a clip of A-ha's video for "Take On Me", which wasn't released until 1985. There's a photo of ALF, a video clip of the California raisins, and a photo of four girls with the inscription "walk like an Egyptian".
The trailer's barely even begun and there's a reference to Suncoast Video (and it isn't the last, either). Has three credits on The Ever After --star, screenwriter/producer . She had to overcome it while filming an underwater scene for Point Break that required her to stay below the surface for hours.
He plays Matt Franklin, just graduated from MIT, paralyzed with indecision and working at a video store in Los Angeles. It’s 1988, and all the ambitious kids are getting jobs at Drexel Burnham, so when Matt’s onetime crush Tori Frederking sashays into the mall, he steps out of uniform and pretends he’s at Goldman Sachs. Finally, there is Dan Fogler as the wacky best friend who gets himself into the weirdest situations, this time with Angie Everhart who I forgot existed until I saw this trailer. Take Me Home Tonight has all the elements of a classic comedy about a guy stuck in a rut but with the help of his best friend, lets loose and has a memorable night.
But they're not sure if they will be able to make Breaking Dawn. OK well, Kristen Stewart will be playing eclipse..look at the previews see her? And Breaking Dawn will be in two parts and she will be in both. Maybe “Superbad’’ coming out later that year just bigfooted the whole two-nerds-at-a-wild-and-crazy-party genre. Maybe there were too many comedies where a one-time high school geek tries to woo the prom queen of his dreams.
So I thought it looked like glamorous work, and I started studying journalism to try to get into that area. But it was maybe three or four months into the journalism that I got a call--this director said, "I want you to be in my movie". I've been in whirlwind ever since, and I never got to doing journalism. Two of her films went through excessive post-production. Take Me Home Tonight began filming in 2007 but was eventually released four years later. She began filming Knight of Cups in 2012, but it was withheld from US release until 2016.
That said, it’s nice to see Anna Faris as Matt’s twin sister. She has some of the lazy, drop-dead humor of “That 70s Show,’’ not surprising since the show’s writers scripted this movie. And Palmer does interesting things with the rote part of The Girl. She comes across as Kristen Stewart with a personality rather than an attitude, and since she’s currently stealing “I Am Number 4’’ out from under its putative stars, she can be said to have moved on.
When she first auditioned for Bedtime Stories , she was told she wasn't "Paris Hilton" enough to play the role, but Adam Sandler felt she was right for the role.
